Over 60 local careers teachers, IAG practitioners, librarians and Personal Advisers attended our Resource Fair exhibition and workshops in Edwinstowe July.
The main presentation outlined Futures/Connexions current and future developments and free and costed services from the start of the new term in September and then from April 2012 - presentation slides available here (opens a Powerpoint file). This clarified many of the uncertainties about what will be available and how schools and colleges can respond.
Workshops covering Career Mark, Passportfolio, Labour Market Information and Work Related Learning, whilst Prospects, Babcock, Cascaid, Careersoft and Surfin2Careers provided an excellent resource exhibition, including a wide range of careers publications and software.
Attendee's comments were very positive about this year’s event:
- “This is the one event in the year where it is possible to see all the books and discuss them”
-“Good update in a fast changing regime”
- “Very useful in setting the scene in the area as things stand at the moment"
- "The exhibition is always useful as you can see resources first hand as opposed to reading about them in a catalogue”
An exhibitor commented:
- “My colleague told me how good your event is before the day and they were spot on!”
Responding to feedback and demand, we're planning further workshops soon, including an Electronic/Virtual Library Workshop (please e-mail us if you're interested in this workshop).
