Quality and improvement services

Four young people with a laptop

“Young people have an active role in inspecting the Connexions service and its local centres. This is important as Connexions is a service for young people and we need to know our voices are being heard and adults are taking notice. ”

Pete, 17, Rushcliffe

We have considerable expertise in service improvement and operate to six national quality standards, including the Common Inspection Framework, the Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) standards for young people, the Investors in People standard, the Award for Education Business Excellence and the Matrix Award.

Our quality and improvement services are split into two areas:

We can help you develop learner feedback frameworks, conduct evaluations and research and process improvement techniques. Learner feedback frameworks will help you give focus to participation activities and ensure evidence collected from young people is robust, representative and acted upon.

In addition, we can offer advice and support with process improvement - an effective business tool to ensure cost effectiveness and value for money within an organisation. Benefits include increased efficiency through better use of resources, clarification of roles and responsibilities of staff, improved communication and the ability to highlight and manage potential risks. Feedback from end users is an important element of the process. We have successfully implemented this type of service improvement within our own organisation and in both local authorities in relation to the transition of disabled young people.

Learner voice

Connexions Nottinghamshire was founded on the principles of participation. Subsequently, we are experts in learner voice activities. We’re firm believers that listening to the views of learners is recognised as a central element of service evaluation and improvement.

We have considerable skills to help you in this area by delivering tried and tested practical activities, which you will find in this section. Connexions has extensive experience of effectively involving young people in our own and partner organisations. We have also developed and implemented ‘good practice’ systems and processes adhering to the principles of the Market Research Society (MRS) and delivered by MRS qualified staff.

Any work undertaken is supported by robust project management processes and skills to ensure high quality delivery and we have extensive experience in safeguarding and data protection issues in relation to young people involvement.
